TIGERS RUN OUT OF STEAM
Focus Ferrers Tigers U10 2 - 4 Dunmow Rhodes Tigers
Mitchell Dean (3)
Daniel Woolmer (6)
This was the last home game of the season, as well as their last as a mini soccer team and probably the last league game at Elmwood. The boys still need a point to secure 4th spot but Dunmow also needed them to secure 2nd place.
The game kicked off and it was end to end football. With three minutes on the clock, a Dunmow player handled the ball in the box and referee Andrew Franklin pointed to the spot. Up stepped defender Mitchell Dean to take the penalty, he struck the ball perfectly and scored the Tigers first and Mitchells first ever goal for the team. Spirits were high and belief was there that we could win this game. Just on six minutes again there was a hand ball just outside the Dunmow box and a free kick was awarded. Daniel Woolmer took one of his hall mark free kicks and blasted the ball into the back of the net. 2 - 0 to the Tigers and looking good.
Dunmow continued to push and looked dangerous from set pieces especially their corners. They clawed a goal back just before half time when the ball was launched from a corner for it to unfortunately deflect into the Tigers goal.
Into the half time break and a team talk, the primary point being that 2 goals wouldn't be enough to win the game... Out for the 2nd half and the boys held their own for a short period before the Dunmow midfielder was given time on the ball just outside the box which we know from previous Dunmow meetings is dangerous. He rifled one into the top right and levelled the score. Two more Dunmow goals followed as the Tigers lost their way and completely run out of ideas and team work to find themselves on the wrong end of the 4 - 2 scoreline.
This weeks team included: Lukas Darby in goal who pulled off some stunning saves this week, Mitchell Dean in defence and goal scorer, Connor Unwin and Tommy Unwin battling in defence. William Putt, Daniel Woolmer, Josh Jones, Harry Blenkarn and Jake Miall worked up and down the park today whilst Daniel Whitley went on some threatening runs up front.
Man of the Match: Lukas Darby, despite the score line pulled off some first class saves for the Tigers.
Steve Richard and Mike.
The score was 2-4.
