It was a lovely spring morning and the Tigers were raring to go on the lush Elmwood grass. Great Notley took centre but it was the Tigers who pounced first. The ball spilled out after an early Tigers corner and then Connor Unwin blasted the ball home (top left) from outside the area. This was just the start the boys wanted. The Tigers kept threatening but that elusive second goal would just not come.

This week's line up included: Lukas Darby in goal who confidently pulled off a few game saving shots today and was a close contender for Man of the Match. The defence team were Tommy Unwin (sharp haircut!), Mitchell Dean and Connor Unwin. All three boys found themselves having to make those all important final tackles to ensure the Knights were kept at bay. The midfield line up included Daniel Woolmer, William Putt, Jake Miall and Harry Blenkarn, all the boys were working up a sweat in the spring sunshine. The strikers George Bass and Daniel Whitley were both up for it and on numerous occasions George gave the Great Notley keeper a real battle.

After the break the Tigers came out and realised that the 1 - 0 lead wasn't enough. The Great Notley woodwork was rattled repeatedly but it wouldn't go in! Super sub Harry Blenkarn soon made amends to that after William dribbled the ball through and laid it off for Harry to slot home on 32 minutes and 2 - 0. Great Notley were far from finished and managed to pull back a goal soon after. The Tigers replied quickly after yet another goal mouth scramble when Jake worked the ball through the box, the keeper spilled it, and Daniel Woolmer scored to make it 3 - 1. Great Notley kept going and all the Tigers had to really concentrate for the last few minutes.

Our resident ref Andrew Franklin blew for full time and the boys had secured the 3 - 1 win, a lovely treat for their Mums on Mother Day. However one thing is for sure we need to up our game going into the close of the season. Great result boys, just one game to go!!

Man of the Match: Tommy "the Minder" Unwin, defending magnificently in today's game and didn't let anyone in who wasn't invited!

Steve, Richard and Mike.
The score was 3-1.
