TIGERS U9 DRAW IN SOMBRE SUNDAY AFTERNOON GAME
Maldon Town Panthers 2 - 2 Focus Ferrers Tigers U9
William Putt (13)
Daniel Woolmer (38)
The Tigers were away for the first time in a few weeks in the last of the League Cup games. The Tigers have already qualified for the semis so today's game was preparation for next week's important league game.
From the outset it was clear to see that this was going to be an untidy game on the muddy surface. Maldon started well and had much of the possession in the first ten minutes. The Tigers looked liked the ones that had been out on the pop last night (as opposed to most of their parents!). The starting line up this week included Lukas Darby in goal, Connor Unwin and Mitchell Dean across the back, Tommy Unwin, Daniel Woolmer and Harry Blenkarn in midfield and George Bass up front. The Tigers were unable to breakdown the large Maldon defence and all too often attacks fizzled out to nothing. After ten minutes William Putt, Jake Miall and Daniel Whitley came on. Jake Miall passed a lovely ball across to Daniel Woolmer who passed to William Putt who then released the trigger for 1 - 0.
Maldon soon came back into the game and made it 1 - 1 after winning a corner and the ball going in the Tigers net off the post. It was going to be long slog. After the break the boys continued where they left off with attacks breaking down all too quickly and the Tigers not taking their chances. Lukas put in some fine saves this afternoon and the scoreline could have been more in favour of Maldon. Tigers pushed on and got their well needed second on 38 minutes when Jake slotted a ball through to Daniel Woolmer who blasted the ball home.
Maldon came straight back at the Tigers and equalised. It remained all square for the rest of the half with chances being missed. The ref blew for full time right on 50 minutes, credit to Maldon for the well deserved draw. The Tigers win their league cup group which is excellent but will have to step up their game with some important league matches on the horizon.

The score was 2-2.
