TIGERS U9 WIN CUP QUALIFIER

Focus Ferrers Tigers U9  4 - 0   Great Notley Knights U9
George Bass (2)
William Putt (23, 41)
Daniel Whitley (39)

It was back to Cup action this week for the Tigers who scored after 2 minutes when William Putt passed the ball through to George Bass who slotted home. Tigers were dominant in places but slow in others. Slowly but surely Great Notley were creeping back into the game. The Tigers were putting together some lovely passing moves but were unable to find the final ball.

The Tigers line up this week included Lukas Darby in goal, Tommy Unwin got a starting place in defence alongside Connor Unwin and Mitchell Dean who took over in the second half, all these boys ensured the Tigers kept a clean sheet for the 2nd week running. Midfield consisted of Daniel Woolmer, William Putt, Daniel Whitley and later, Jake Miall. George Bass took up the strikers position. Tigers finally doubled their lead just before the break when William Putt got on the end of a Jake Miall pass to tap home for 2 - 0. Into half time and a team talk including a wake up call.

The Notley keeper put in some excellent stops to ensure the goal difference was kept down. Daniel Whitley eventually got the Tigers 3rd on 39 minutes after some wonderful passing play involving Dan, Jake and William. Tommy Unwin came back into midfield after a good first half in defence and continued his good work. William got his second when Daniel Whitley passed the ball through on 41 minutes for William to score and 4 - 0.

The Tigers showed what they're capable of today (both positive and negative), the passing was at times a joy to behold whilst at others it looked like the boys had been out together on the tiles the night before! Well done though boys on keeping a clean sheet. The win ensures we qualify for the League Cup table in readiness for the Semi Final next year.

Man of the Match: Tommy "tornado" Unwin, stepped up to the challenge of a starting place and really got involved. Great work Tommy.

Many thanks to Andy Franklin for refereeing another Tigers home game and also to John Davies for ensuring the Elmwood pitch markings were glowing.

Steve, Richard and Mike.
The score was 4-0.
