TIGERS U9 WIN WITH A 5 STAR PERFORMANCE.

The snow ploughs cleared the pitch and the under soil heating was at full steam to ensure the boys had a superb playing surface despite the elements at Elmwood. Valley Green won the toss and let Tigers kick off, they were out to unsettle the Tigers. Valley Green looked very solid and were marking the Tigers carefully. The deadlock was broken on 6 minutes when George Bass ran down the left flank, got the ball in the box only for a Knights defender to unfortunately head the ball into his own net..

Tigers got into their stride and slowly started to pass the ball around and put some lovely movements together. On 19 minutes the Tigers worked a 5 piece passing manoeuvre to which William Putt got on the end of to slot the ball home for 2 - 0. Confidence was growing now and on 22 minutes after a pass from William onto Connor Unwin, the ball landed at the feet of Daniel Whitley who got the ball over the line and 3 - 0 to the good..

The team list was announced before the game and this week the selection was: Lukas Darby between the sticks with his target to keep a clean sheet (well done Lukas, mission accomplished), supporting him in doing this were the two anchor men in the team Mitchell Dean and Connor Unwin, both were supreme in defence. The formidable midfield of Daniel Woolmer, William Putt, Jake Miall and Harry Blenkarn worked like Trojans. George Bass and Daniel Whitley were the ever hungry strike force and both boys got on the score sheet..

After the break, the Tigers dominated and gave the spectators a real display with some silky passing movements. The defence remained alert and worked well with Lukas. Tigers scored on 45 minutes after Daniel Woolmer passed through to William who shot the ball in for George Bass to tap home. Connor Unwin completed the rout on 50 minutes to cap off an excellent performance..

Confidence and belief is high for the Tigers, the goals today came from all over the park, defence, midfield and strikers, coupled with a clean sheet, resulting with a total team performance against a very good and competitive Valley Green..
