TIGERS U9 NET 5 IN WET CONDITIONS
Focus Ferrers Tigers U9 5 - 1 Great Notley Knights
Connor Unwin (4)
Jake Miall (12, 21)
William Putt (22)
George Bass (42)
The Tigers carried on from where they left us last week with another solid league performance and ensuring the three points were safe. A good all round team effort with all the boys contributing to today's win. Despite the score line, Great Notley put up a real fight and made it hard for the Tigers to get the result they deserved.
Tigers opened their account on 4 minutes when they won a corner and William Putt whipped the ball into the box for Connor Unwin to tap home. The Knights then dug in and gave the Tigers a hard game and got a deserved goal. Tigers got into their stride when Jake Miall who came on for an injured Daniel Whitley, scored from a well weighted William pass to make it 2 - 1 on 12 minutes. The Tigers defenders of Mitchell Dean, Connor Unwin and Tommy Unwin put on a commanding performance and shut the door on the Knights attacks. Lukas Darby had a relatively quite game but made one first class save in the game to deny the Knights.
Meanwhile the Tigers improved their lead on 21 minutes when a lovely passing movement saw Jake Miall get his second and the Tigers 3rd. A minute later Jake turned provider for William Putt who stroked the ball home, 4 - 1 and into half time.
The Tigers kept the pressure on in the second half, George Bass hassled the Knights defence throughout the game with some fleeting runs down the flanks and got on the scoresheet in the 42nd minutes for the Tigers fifth. Callum Abbott came into midfield and kept the pressure on. Daniel Woolmer tested the keeper this week with some hallmark Woolmer shots but was unable to beat the strong Knights keeper.
A sound team performance this week with some lovely passing manoeuvres, just remember to talk to each other during the game!
Man of the Match: Jake "the marauder" Miall, 2 goals and numerous great runs down the flanks and at the keeper.
