Another week of league action saw the Tigers take on a Maldon team full of confidence following a narrow victory over Gt Notley the week before. With only 2 weeks to go before their local derby it was time to consolidate their position in the table and put some pressure on the 2 teams currently above them.

The Tigers started the scoring in the 4th minute when William Putt connected well to put the home side ahead following a sublime pass from Daniel Woolmer. The second came just 2 minutes later, after some neat football down the left hand side, George Bass got himself into a good position in the box and when the ball finally found its way to him, he coolly slotted home.  William got his second on 10 minutes with a thunderous strike and the 4th came from the same source. William whipped a trademark corner into the near post which deceived everyone, even the defender who stuck his leg out only to see the ball end in the back of the net.  A strong 1st half performance culminated in George Bass' 2nd and Tigers 5th.

Special mention should be made to the defensive trio of Lukas Darby in goal and once again for much of the game didn't have much to do but made the critical saves when needed. Mitchell Dean had one of his best games at left back, very composed and a 1st touch that wouldn't look out of place at Old Trafford, whilst Connor Unwin was his usual industrious self. Tommy Unwin came on at half time and stopped anything the Panthers could throw at him. The midfield unit of Daniel Woolmer, William Putt, Jake Miall & Callum Abbott worked hard for each other and was the source of a lot of creativity.

The second half started a little slower as the the boys that came on began to settle into the pace of the game and were kept on their toes as the Panthers began to ask a few questions which finally gave Lucas a chance to show the crowd what he is made of, pulling off at least 3 fine saves.  Then into the last 10mins and the Tigers began to dominate once again. The goal of the game coming in the 40th minute, Daniel Woolmer having won the ball in the middle of the park, beat 1 more midfielder before slotting an inch perfect ball through to George Bass who steadied himself before drilling the ball into the right hand corner. Daniel Whitley replaced George and was on hand to score number 7 within seconds with a poachers finish.  .

A good professional performance today but with the local derby only 2 weeks away, the boys need to remain disciplined and focused to realise their ambitions.

Man of the Match: Mitchell "Rio" Dean, composed and assured, has set himself some high standards to maintain now.
