Blackwater & Dengie League, Dengie Division, League Cup - RESULT
TIGERS U9 TAKE WELL DESERVED WIN
Focus Ferrers Tigers U9 4 - 0 Great Notley Knights
William Putt (6, 18)
Callum Abbott (43, 49)
This was the Tigers first away game of the season in the League Cup and they put on a display that showed everyone that they are maturing and growing in confidence week by week. The score line doesn't really reflect the tough game the Tigers had. Everyone concentrated in this close fought battle. Lukas Darby was solid in goal, the defence of Mitchell Dean, Connor Unwin, Tommy Unwin and Jake Miall were water tight and in control throughout the game, a real pleasure to watch. The difference between the two teams was that the Tigers took their chances and finished with the ball in the back of the net.
The Tigers were under pressure for the first few minutes but were able to hold out until the 6th minute when William Putt connected on to the ball 20 yards out and volleyed home. Confidence grew quickly and the Tiger attacks came again and again. William got his second on 18 minutes when he blasted from close range to make it 2 - 0. The midfield are really having to work hard in these games, Daniel Woolmer, Daniel Whitley, Jake Miall, William Putt and Callum Abbott all contributed to this. Callum Abbott came on in the second half and put together some confident passes. Again, the Tigers were under pressure as Notley tried to pull a goal back but Callum Abbott volleyed from close range on to make it 3 - 0 on 43 minutes. Callum also scored the Tigers fourth on 48 minutes to seal the game.
Keeper Lukas Darby and the defence are worthy of a special mention for the way they remained solid with their clearances, birthday boy Connor Unwin was unlucky not to score after going on some spectacular runs from defence. It was great to see the boys heading the ball this week whilst putting together some smart passing movements. The goals came from midfield but striker George Bass gave the Notley keeper a hard time too.
There is still room for improvement but today we've shown we can play against stronger teams in the Dengie Division. Well done boys, lets keep it up!
Man of the Match: Callum Abbott, 2 goals and great ball control Callum, well deserved.
