The Tigers were on home turf for the third week in a row and showed they had listened and learned with an exemplary performance. Excellent passing movements from back up to the front coupled with stronger tackles made the game a real pleasure to watch, especially in the first half.
The boys were on the attack from the outset. George Bass started up front and in the 4th minute got on the end of a deflection by the Mayland keeper to slot home for his first of the day. The Tigers pressure continued with much of the possession and in the 11th minute the ball was played out from the Tigers defence and onto Daniel Whitley who passed to George Bass who went on a mazy run and took the ball calmly round the keeper to make it 2 - 0. Excellent work George!
The midfield were strong and held their position well with challenges being made to stop Mayland getting through. Connor Unwin, Daniel Woolmer and William Putt made up the formidable midfield formation. Daniel Woolmer connected onto an excellent ball and was calmly chipped the keeper to make it 3 - 0 on 18 minutes. Yet again Connor Unwin battled in both midfield and defence. William provided a first class service with his corners.
The defence were solid in the first half with Jake Miall and Mitchell Dean protecting Lukas Darby's goal. The tackles were flying in to keep Mayland at bay. Later in the half Harry Blenkarn came into midfield and was an instant success by scoring on 21 minutes after yet another brilliant team passing manoeuvre. George Bass got his hatrick on 22 minutes after a goal mouth scramble. Wonderful work George!
In the second half Daniel Whitley was desperate to get on the score sheet did so after a 29th minute goal mouth scramble, well done Daniel. Tommy Unwin came on into defence and continued the good work and stopped Mayland in their tracks. Callum Abbott came on upfront and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet this week, keep trying Callum. Daniel Whitley finished the game off with a 36th minute volley.
A fantastic team effort Tigers, a real pleasure to watch and it proves to us you do listen in training!
Once again thanks to Andy Franklin for refereeing and to Elmwood and John Davies for having the home pitch in first class condition.
Man of the Match: George Bass, determined with every tackle whilst confident finishing in front of goal with a hatrick today.
Steve, Richard and Mike.
The score was 7-1.
