The Tigers were at home again this week but this time it was League Cup action. The Tigers were eager to bounce back from their defeat and showed what they are capable of in the 3rd minute. The ball started with Mitchell Dean in defence, who passed up to Daniel Whitley, he then dribbled the ball up the line to then pass to George Bass who put the ball home to make it 1 - 0 to the Tigers. A total team effort!
The team were in their usual formation with Lukas Darby raring to go in goal, in defence were Connor Unwin and Mitchell Dean, the midfield trio consisted of William Putt, Daniel Woolmer and George Bass. Daniel Whitley started out up front. Again the Tigers dominated for much of the first half and made it 2 - 0 on 8 minutes when William Putt blasted the ball from outside the area, great goal. The passing was much improved in this game and the Tigers were able to string some good passing movements together. Goal number three came on 15 minutes when Daniel Woolmer powered the ball home. Later in the half Jake Miall came on into Midfield and put in an impressive performance with strong and determined tackles. Mayland pulled one back just before the break and again this was due to a Tigers error, we must be careful boys! William Putt made it 4 - 1 just before the break when he tapped home for his second from an excellent corner by Daniel Woolmer.
After the break the boys had to do more defending as Mayland stepped up the pace. Lukas again was strong in goal and put in some excellent stops. The defence had their work cut out and Tommy Unwin really had to make important tackles. Callum Abbott came into central midfield and was also unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Mayland kept the pressure on and sneaked a second goal. Jake Miall put the game to bed though on 35 minutes by getting on the end of a slick Daniel Woolmer pass.
The score finished 5 - 2 and was a positive performance this week however we must learn to cut out the silly mistakes, watch our marking and capitalise on our opportunities. Thanks again to Andrew Franklin for refereeing and to John Davies for providing us with first class condition pitch, those lines glowed this morning!
Man of the Match: Jake Miall: Jake has really settled as an outfield player and showed real determination.
Steve, Richard and Mike.
