TIGERS COME CLOSE IN CUP GAME
Focus Ferrers Tigers U10 0 - 1 Dunmow Rhodes Tigers
Back to Dunmow for the second week in a row for Focus. Weather was much improved unfortunately the same can't be said for the boys performance. Tigers seemed to be in sleep mode and for much of the first half and were chasing the ball. Gradually as the game progressed the Tigers came to life and started to play the ball around.
Dunmow whilst were passing the ball, did not see many chances and were closed down early by the defence and midfield. Dunmow got their goal half way through the first half... déjà vue time with an identical header to last week. The Tigers were unable to find a reply and into half time to regroup.
This week there was a full complement of Tigers and the management went with the same starting line up as last week. Lukas Darby in goal with a brave performance and took some winding. Mitchell Dean and Connor Unwin holding the back line, again another assertive performance with Connor going on some dogged runs and keeping possession, Tommy Unwin stepped in for the second half and kept the back well protected. Midfielders Daniel Woolmer, Josh Jones and William Putt had to battle for the ball all game. Harry Blenkarn and Jake Miall bolstered the midfield with some vital challenges. Both Daniel Whitley and George Bass shared the strikers spot but were unable to see the back of the net with the Dunmow Tigers closing them down early on.
The second half was soon under way with neither team testing the keepers too much. For the last 10 minutes the Tigers turned on the heat and started to pressure the Dunmow keeper and came very close on a number of occasions. Unfortunately time ran out and the excellent referee called time.
No Cup Points for the Tigers but lets keep the pressure up in next weeks Cup Game.
Man of the Match: Again, Mitchell and Connor were in the shortlist but William Putt just shaded it with his determined performance down the left flank. Congratulations.
Steve, Richard and Mike
