TIGERS U10 TAKE A POINT IN CUP CLASH
Focus Ferrers Tigers U10 0 - 0 Braintree Town Yellows
The Tigers travelled to Braintree with a reduced squad of 8 this week for their 2nd cup game of the campaign. Braintree started the stronger with the Tigers looking nervous and edgy and taking their time to settle on the ball. Braintree were another big and strong team in the top flight. Tackles were going in early on and the Tigers defence came under sustained pressure. Tigers defensive duo Tommy Unwin and Mitchell Dean really had to put a shift in today and both boys stepped up to the challenge.
As the first half moved on the Tigers were seeing more and more of the ball with chances starting to materialise. Striker Daniel Whitley was getting closer and closer to the back of the net and was extremely unlucky with one chance just going up and over the bar. The midfield gang of William Putt, Josh Jones, Jake Miall and twinkle toes Daniel Woolmer battled for the full fifty minutes and had to make their presence felt against the determined opposition. Keeper Lukas Darby had a quiet game with only a couple of shots to keep out, well done on keeping a clean sheet this week Lukas.
After the break Tigers continued where they left off with attack after attack on the Braintree goal but today that ball just wouldn't go in. The ref finally blew for full time and somehow despite seeing so much of the possession the Tigers left the pitch without that all important goal. It was an excellent game for the spectators and had everything except a goal. All eight boys played magnificently today and really did deserve to take the points in this cup game.
Man of the Match: All eight boys had a shout for man of the match but it came down to two players, Josh narrowly missed out to Mitchell Dean who held his own against the determined Braintree attackers. Very well deserved Mitchell.
Steve, Richard and Mike.
The score was 0-0.
