It was back to league action this week and another early trip over to Braintree. The conditions were good and the boys were raring to go. The Tigers kicked off and were seeing good early possession and chances. It wasn't long before the first goal came and Daniel Whitley found himself with the ball in the box and tapped home with his left foot on 3 minutes. The Tigers continued to battle against the strong Braintree team but as has been true for much of this season the elusive second goal just wouldn't come. Even when the Tigers won a free kick just outside the box the ball looked destined for the back of the net but got caught up with a couple of players.

Braintree were pressuring as the game went on and with minutes to go before half time they got their equaliser. The referee blew for half time and the boys went in 1- 1. On another day it would have been 3 - 0. There were ten Tigers present for today's game. Lukas Darby was back in goal and looking much stronger with his goal kicks. After Tommy's performance last week he earned himself a starting position alongside Mitchell Dean in defence. Later in the game Harry Blenkarn also supported the boys in defence. Midfielders this week included Josh Jones, William Putt, Connor Unwin and Jake Miall. Starting up front was Daniel Whitley who was definitely hungry for goals today. Daniel Woolmer also played upfront and was unlucky himself not to score today.

The boys came out for the 2nd half and continued applying pressure but the 2nd goal was proving hard to find. Manager Micky Dean made an inspired substitution and within seconds Daniel Whitley got his second after Josh blasted the ball and Daniel gave it touch to go in on 39 minutes. The Tigers confidence was high and they continued to press on. Three minutes later Harry Blenkarn took a shot and it skimmed the defender on the way through to make it 3 - 1 to the Tigers on 42 minutes. The referee finally blew and the Tigers gave their Mums something to smile about on Mothers Day. A great determined effort in the end.

Man of the Match: Jake Miall: Really showed us how he can play today and was unlucky not to score from a free kick late in the game. Great effort Jake, lets see that every week!

Steve, Richard and Mike.
The score was 3-1.
