TIGERS HELD AGAIN
Focus Ferrers Tigers U10 1 - 1 Torquespeed Turbo U10
Back to league action this week and a trip to Tiptree and a game on their artificial pitch, very impressive! The ball was fast and the pitch large but this should have favoured the Tigers. It took a while for the boys to find their feet on the surface but did start to play some impressive football with balls being played around the pitch. Some early chances came for both teams but neither were able to capitalise.
The Tigers took the lead in the 12th minute when George Bass broke free down the right wing and placed a wonderful ball across the goal. We all thought Josh Jones had slotted home but upon closer look at the video replay it was the unlucky Turbo defender that put the ball home. Turbo then turned up the heat and Tigers found themselves defending deep. Eventually the half time whistle blew and the boys came in for well earned refreshments.
The management had a full compliment this week so team selection was always going to be a tricky task. Keeper Lukas Darby was supported by Mitchell Dean who had an outstanding game, Tommy Unwin who battled in his warrior style. Midfield needed to be strong today and it proved so in the first half with Josh Jones holding the central position, Connor Unwin and William Putt playing out on the flanks. All three worked hard up and down the pitch. This week George Bass started up front and played a big part in the first goal. Daniel Woolmer came into midfield later in the game and had a positive impact with some strong tackles as well as nearly scoring. Daniel Whitley played upfront and harassed the Turbo strikers throughout. Harry Blenkarn made a late appearance and was effective in both midfield and defence. Jake Miall played out on the right midfield feeding some quality balls into the box.
The game continued with the same fast pace as the first half. Tigers were always going to need a second goal to clinch the game but due to some outstanding saves from the Turbo keeper, it remained elusive. Turbo got their deserved goal five minutes from time, which meant the Tigers drew for the fifth time this season, we must learn to finish these games off!
Man of the Match: Daniel 'warrior' Woolmer: Came into the game and battled hard in midfield, unlucky not to score today too.
