TIGERS LOSE OUT IN CLOSELY FOUGHT BATTLE
Focus Ferrers Tigers U10 0 - 1 Baddow Spartak
It was back to league action this week and a short trip to top of the table Baddow Spartak. The Management had a depleted squad this week with only 8 of the 11 available to play. The 8 that played worked their socks off in the this tricky fixture. The boys held their own and battled relentlessly, much of the time they had to defend deep in their half but were doing enough to keep Spartak out. Keeper Lukas Darby had the game of his life pulling off stop after stop and protected the scoreline.
Mitchell Dean and Josh Jones worked tirelessly together at the back. Josh had a strong shout for man of the match with countless tackles fending off the attacking Spartak boys. In midfield William Putt, Daniel Woolmer and George Bass started the game and had their energy levels depleted but kept going and going. All three boys had shots close to target but were not able to capitalise on the slender chances. Tommy Unwin and Daniel Whitley played up front and tried their hardest to increase their goal tallies this week. There were glimmers of brilliant play by the Tigers and both sets of spectators were treated to a great game of football. But Lady Luck just doesn't want to shine on our boys this season and midway through the 2nd half Spartak took a very narrow lead to which the Tigers were not able to cancel out.
Despite the loss, a tremendous well done to the team today who put on one of their best displays of the season. The wins will come if we continue to play in this way.
Man of the Match: Any one of the eight could have got it but it must go to Lukas Darby who pulled off some amazing saves today. Superb performance Lukas.
Steve Richard and Mike.
The score was 0-1.
