TIGERS PUT ON A SOLID DISPLAY
Focus Ferrers Tigers U10 0 - 0 Torquespeed Turbo
Tigers were back on home turf after a few weeks out on the road. Spirits were high and all the boys were up for the challenge. It was league game number three and in spite of the Tigers not losing so far, they were also looking for that elusive first win in the Blackwater Division. The game started in favour of the Tigers with the Turbo's keeper having to parry shots away. It was clear that the Tigers were up against an excellent opposition keeper and it would take something special to beat him. It was great to see the Tigers passing the ball around this week (something that has been missing recently), there was more confidence on the ball and much better communication all round.
There were nine Tigers available for selection this week, keeper Lukas Darby put in a fine performance and kept his 3rd clean sheet of the season. In front of Lukas the defence consisted of Mitchell Dean and Connor Unwin, both showed confidence and total awareness on the ball and when under pressure. Both boys could have been given Man of the Match this week. In midfield William Putt, Josh Jones and Daniel Woolmer started for the Tigers and dominated the centre of the park for much of the game, Jake Miall came on later in the game and came close to scoring (as did the others) on a few occasions. Strikers George Bass and Daniel Whitley again run their socks off this week but neither could find the back of the net today.
It was a great game to watch as both teams played some quality football and much of it end to end action but neither team could find that elusive goal. It was going to need someone to make a mistake for a goal to come, but both teams made sure that didn't happen, so again the Tigers shared the points (our fourth draw of the campaign). A much improved performance, we must take the confidence and our belief into the next game and look to close the game rather than becoming draw specialists. Well done to all nine boys today.
Man of the Match: Lukas Darby: Another clean sheet and some critical stops to ensure the Tigers never went behind. Well deserved Lukas.
Player of the Month: Josh Jones: A consistent, solid performance since the start of the season. Josh has made an instant impact since joining the Tigers this season.
