The big day had finally arrived. The boys looked immaculate in their sky blue match day kits and their white jackets. The team bus pulled into Burnham Ramblers with spirits high and the Tigers entourage full of excitement.

It was a warm April morning for the clash of the big cats in this League Cup Final. The whistle blew and we were off. It was evenly balanced for much of the first half but it was the Lions who scored first after an unlucky bounce beat both the defence and keeper. This fuelled the Tigers who were straight back at the Lions, the equaliser came on 19 minutes when William Putt played a cross park ball into the path of Jake Miall who then chipped the ball into the net. Soon after, the half time whistle blew and it was back to the changing rooms.

It was a full compliment of Tigers players today and every boy was keen to get on the pitch. The Cup Final team included Lukas Darby in goal who performed magnificently when required. Connor Unwin, Mitchell Dean and Tommy Unwin worked their hearts out in defence and had much to do with the constant Lions attacks. The midfielders William Putt, Jake Miall, Harry Blenkarn and Daniel Woolmer battled throughout the game to get possession. George Bass and Daniel Whitley were the formidable strike force and had to chase everything down today.

The boys continued where they left off in the second half but it was clear to see that the Lions were getting the upper hand with much of the possession. Their winning goal was taken later in the second half. The Tigers battled on but were not able to reply on this occasion. Credit must go to the Lions as the best team on the day won.

This was a great learning for the boys and they all enjoyed their special day out competing in the Cup Final. Heads must be held high for this season's U9's Dengie League Winners. Be proud boys of what you have achieved.

Man of the Match: Connor Unwin, put in a magnificent performance throughout the whole game.
