It was back to Cup action this week as the Tigers played the first of the two semi final legs against Sporting 77 Pumas. The Elmwood pitch was looking immaculate thanks to groundsman John Davies. It was end to end football for the first 10 minutes, slowly but surely the Tigers started to dominate and this was going to be the theme for the much of the game. The line up this week included: Lukas Darby in goal, Connor Unwin and Mitchell Dean in defence supported later by Tommy Unwin. The midfield unit consisted of William Putt, Daniel Woolmer, George Bass, Jake Miall and Harry Blenkarn. Up front was Daniel Whitley as well as Tommy Unwin making a rare strikers appearance.

The boys really played some quality football today with much of what they've been learning in training coming through into today's game. The defence stayed resilient and Connor was able to push forward on numerous occasion. He was unlucky early on with a ferocious shot being tipped over the bar by the excellent Sporting keeper. Connor got his reward on 15 minutes when the Tigers earned a corner, William whipped in an excellent ball which spilled out for Connor to connect with and 1 - 0 to the Tigers.

After a rallying half time team talk by the Tigers Management, the boys came back out to continue where they left off. Three minutes into the 2nd half saw yet another Tigers corner, it was a repeat scenario of the first goal, William put the ball into the box and Connor banged the ball home. With the Tigers 2 - 0 up, the Pumas were riled and determined to stay in the game, their attackers got on the end of a loose ball and pulled one back. This just seemed to spur the Tigers on though, Harry went on a run down the right flank, crossed the ball in and Daniel Woolmer scored to make it 3 - 1. The work effort put in by the Tigers was excellent and they kept going right to the end and wanted more. The game was wrapped up on 47 minutes when George Bass battled down the flank, beating the Pumas defenders, knocked the ball in ready for William Putt to tap in and 4 - 1 scoreline.

The Tigers put on a really positive display, but it is only half time with the 2nd leg to be played away next Sunday. We couldn't have asked any more from the boys today, a polished performance, lets keep this going into the second leg. Credit to all the Tigers - keeper, defenders, midfielders and strikers. Finally, thanks once again to Andy Franklin for refereeing the match.

Man of the Match: Connor "unstoppable" Unwin: Defender Connor scored two and constantly attacked and defended, a real pleasure to watch.

Steve, Richard and Mike.
The score was 4-1.
