TIGERS SAY FAREWELL TO MINI SOCCER

Focus Ferrers Tigers U10 0 - 2 Maldon Town Pumas

The last day of the season for the boys and their last ever mini soccer game was away to Maldon Town, a pitch that's familiar to the Tigers and one they never seem to have much luck on and today was no different.

Within 5 minutes the boys were 2 - 0 down and William Putt had to limp off the pitch with knee injury. Maldon was seeing most of the possession and playing some lovely football, the Tigers still seemed to be back in Woodham. Lukas Darby was called into action throughout the game and pulled off some stunning saves whilst the rest of the team struggled to gel and put any passes together whatsoever.

Slowly the boys did manage to stem the Maldon tide but the Tigers chances were very rare and without venom. The second half was a slightly better affair and between them they kept the scoreline down including a goal line clearance from Tommy Unwin and more super stops from Lukas. The boys seemed to struggle from defending set pieces, in particular corners and not picking up the opposition when making their runs, very statuesque Tigers. The ref finally blew up for full time and this season has finished very differently to previous ones. We still have managed a credible 5th place in the league out of 9 teams. As the boys say farewell to mini soccer we must now focus on the whole new world of 11 a side football....

Today's squad included keeper Lukas Darby, defenders Mitchell Dean and Tommy Unwin who both had to be alert at all times. Midfielders William Putt, Connor Unwin, Josh Jones and Jake Miall.Strikers Daniel Whitley and George Bass. Well done to Daniel Woolmer and his broken arm for making the effort and coming along to see the boys.

Man of the Match: Lukas 'The Cat' Darby, pulled off some instinctive saves today, it's a shame Capello wasn't watching...

Steve Richard and Mike.
The score was 0-2.
