A wonderful day for this rearranged League fixture originally due in the middle of snowy January. The elements still featured heavily with the "Fella" stranded overseas due to Volcanic dust and so one man down for the Lions. The Jets held the early balance of play and a thunderbolt free kick cannoned off the bar on just 5 mins. James was starting at the back with Andrew and both were seeing rather too much of the ball as Hatfield powered in a series of corners and Rory Delap style throw ins.Gradually the boys picked up there game and Jack shot just wide after a slick move on the right with Ben B and Andrew. Soon after Tom had a volley from the edge of the area which the keeper palmed away. Chances developed for the boys  as Ben P found greater space on the left and Jack began to pick up all of the loose balls and intelligently started attacks on both flanks. The move of the first half saw Andrew and Ben P exchange passes from one half to the other  for Ben to deliver a cracking half volley which narrowly missed. Andrew then tried a long range stinger which again the Jets keeper kept out.The heat led to a number of water breaks  and some changes were made near the end of the first half. The Jets still came back and on the stroke of half time a Jets shot took a wicked deflection which Jamie reacted to brilliantly keeping the scores level. The second half saw Callum up front with Tom and some direct running from the two strikers forced Hatfield back. Andrew rejoined the fray as a further striker and released from his defensive duties he had an immediate impact. Nathan intercepted a ball on the half way line and fed Tom who played a delightful round the corner pass to Andrew who took the ball on and finished in fine style.Within a minute he had doubled the tally. His run and cross down the left was met first time by a left foot volley from Tom which the keeper parried. Andrew continued his run and slipped home the return from a narrow angle. After the quick fire salvo the boys turned it on. Ben P jinked past 3 defenders and  fired just wide. Ben B then narrowly missed with a firm cross shot. James and Nathan were on at the back and both took it in turns to push forward. Nathan made another timely interception and passed to Tom in the area. Cleverley using the outside of his boot he spun a shot just wide. Andrew claimed his hat trick when Nathan again broke from the back and played a neat through ball which Andrew met and steered home for a 7 minute trio. The drama was far from over as with just 4 minutes to play Lee the ref gave a very rare penalty indeed. With the penalty spot finally located Jamie pulled off a stunning full length save topping off an excellent performance from him. The Jets were still after their consolation and just before the final whistle the number 12 buried a fierce shot giving Jamie no chance at all. A very good match from both sides and some real quality from the Lions. Well done boys.
