Season number three for the boys and for the first time the  lineup showed some changes. Following the departue of Alex in goal it was Jamie who took over between the sticks and the boys and supporters welcomed Andrew for his first competitive appearance in the Lions colours. Early on it was Jamie who had to be alert as some early Notley pressure saw some good long range efforts. Jamie immediately looked assured and started to command his area. Tom then found good space on the right and put in Lucas who had a sharp effort that just went wide. Callum was in a new role at the back with James and was seeing plenty of the ball mixing some strong runs with effective passing. It was a trademark Callum corner from the right that fell to Lucas who volleyed in the opener after 10 mins. The boys then put on a great show for the remainder of the half. Ben P made a great run down the left and his cross was met first time by Tom , but blocked by the defender. Ben B and Andrew joined the fray and with Jack and Tom, linked up well from the start putting in Andrew for an early chance. It was not too long before a further opportunity came, as Ben B and Tom then exchanged sweet passes before playing in Andrew who spun and shot into the bottom corner. Just 4 mins later there was an audible gasp as Tom brought a high ball down just inside the opponents half and clattered a looping  volley over the keeper and into the roof of the net, a true wonder goal. After the break the Knights again started strong but again  Jamie dealt with everything  very calmly and started attacks with a great mixture of kicks and roll outs. Nathan joined Callum at the back and looked sharp as he combined with Jack for some fine moves down the left. The Knights stayed very competitive and it was some time before Andrew broke down the right and put in Ben B who drove a shot into the corner to make it 4-0. More chances then followed and all the boys looked really bright. Ben P weaved some magic down the by line before pulling the ball back for Andrew to slot home his second at the near post. 5-0 it finished and a very confident start for the boys in what was a very entertaining opener for the Elmwood faithful. Well done boys.
