This was a much needed 5 star performance from the boys. From the outset the Lions looked hungry, and Callum immediately found space on the right and whipped in some menacing crosses. There were a number of weird and wonderful boots on display and none brighter then Ben Ps bobby dazzlers, but they proved an inspiration as he took early control of the midfield.A box to box performance followed as he linked play with his defenders and strikers.Tom also looked razor sharp, and after missing with an early chance from close in, it was inevitable that he would not let further chances go.The opener came after great work from Callum and Jack put in Tom.His low shot squeezed past the keeper but the unfortunate Panthers defender could only slice his clearance into his own net.Excellent work followed, and it was 2-0 after Ben Bs run and shot was diverted in by arch poacher Tom.A further Tom finish on the turn brought up a 3-0 score at the break which was richly deserved. The second half proved sensational as Captain James was moved to a central strikers role. For a player who had previously scored one competitive goal this may have seemed somewhat strange, but amazing scenes were to follow.Just after half time he was put through by Ben P and crashed a shot into the corner of the net without blinking an eyelid. He seemed to be a natural and was proving an immediate handful for the Panthers. It was not all one way traffic though.Jamie and Nathan were starring in defence and were regularly called upon to make timely interceptions. Both boys were in commanding form as they moved the ball out with tremendous skill turning defence into frequent  dangerous attacks. Alex too was part of the "offensive" defence as he switched the play with a careful mix of roll outs and angled kicks. When called upon for the odd shot he was equally sharp.
At the other end of the pitch the goals kept coming. For the statos amongst us there was a short Lucas cameo which ended with a flare up of his woodland injury. James then grabbed his second as he rounded two defenders before slotting home past the keeper. He then got his hat trick with a smart right foot shot into the corner to make it 6-0.Tom was anxious to return and he made it 7 with a precise finish after excellent skill from Jamie and Jack. The boys were now flying and James scored his fourth before Tom grabbed 2 further goals at the death to bring his personal tally to 5.Without exception there were top class performances from all of the Lions and it certainly blew away the cobwebs of a very gloomy December and January.Well done boys you were all excellent.
