With this being the last league game of the season we welcomed Sporting 77 to the Elmwood arena, with it raining all night and still lashing down the pitch was still in great shape, the hawks kicked off.....
With the boy's determined to end a dismall run at home they were very quick off the mark, they had started with great confidence and were knocking the ball round well , and should of been 1 up within the first minute when Bren had a sight on goal, Sporting were finding it hard to get the ball out of there half and the Hawks soon went a goal up , with David bursting in from the right cutting inside the defender and lashing home his first of the afternoon 1 0 Hawks.
The Hawks were flowing now and straight from the kick off won the ball and forced a corner, Bren has knocked a great corner over and Brandan has headed just wide, Sporting were trying to get a hold on the game but with "Waspy" marshalling the back line they were meeting a imovable object, Brandan was pushing the boys on from the middle and after a sweet move involving Brandan , Charles and Then David they were 2 up with David again creating space and shooting past the Sporting keeper, 2 0 Hawks , further chances came and went and David was causing absolute havoc on the right ,with Jack picking the ball up from deep he went on a mazy run down the right beating two players, he then passed the ball to Bren who chipped the ball over to Charles who has outjumped everyone to header home a superb goal 3 0 Hawks, the Hawks just kept pressing and had numerous more chances to increase there lead then with five mins of the half left David has got his hatrick , with Brandan laying the ball to Charles who played it to David to run in on goal and slot home 4 0 Hawks , Jack at the back was playing well alongside Sam and were keeping Liam in goal redundant , the Hawks kept on pressing but could not increase there lead Halftime 4 0 Hawks ..
Sporting were quick out the blocks in the second half but still could not find a way past the stubborn Hawks defence, the Hawks were soon back in the groove and Sam (who is destined not to score this year) has beat his man and hit a thunder bolt shot from outside the box "the Hawks crowd held its breath" and the ball has some how just missed the goal , "Sam it will come" Charles not to be outdone has got the hawks 5th of the game , from a Davids cross which Charles has stopped turned and smashed home 5 0 Hawks, Sporting still kept going and got a goal of there own with a cross into the box which the Hawks failed to clear there forward has hit the ball low to the right past Liam who did not see it (ARSENE BULL) and in for there goal 5 1 , This did not seem to deter the attacking Hawks and Jack within two minutes has got the Hawks sixth of the game , with him picking the ball up deep another great run beating 2 players , and seeing the goal in front he has let fly giving there keeper no chance (another Waspy special) 6 0 Hawks ..
With Bren having a go at defence alongside Henry Waspy now has pushed further forward, and Links up so well with Brandan , Charles should of completed his Hatrick but was cruelly denied by the goal mouth mud ,when the ball was crossed over Charles has turned to poke it home from 2 yards , but the ball has stopped dead under his feet in the mud , and the sporting keeper just managed to get his hand on the ball before Charles could sort his feet out , Brandan was next to score from a corner the ball has come across and Brandan was there to lash it home 7 1 Hawks, fulltime..........
The Hawks were awsome today and ended what was a good season for them , semi final of the cup and finishing 5 th in the league is no mean feet , roll on next year Hawks WELL DONE BOYS
This was a great game for the Hawks to finish there season ,with some good performances for man of the match today , David got the nod and did not give the sporting defence a minutes rest , great running , crossing , passing and a superb first half hatrick WELL DONE DAVID.....
