Match report

1st Half ; Our first league game was away against a very good Heybridge team which had obviously played the previous season U7's. We started quite brightly with good confident play from our captain David running with the ball, but losing possession which resulted in Heybridge having the first shot which Henry made a great save. This was the first of many numerous shots on goal by Heybridge with some very near misses keeping James and Liam in defence very busy and good goalkeeping from Henry, although they couldn't keep a clean sheet for long with Heybridge scoring three goals with no reply.
2nd half; Focus made a change at half time with Ronnie going in goal and Henry in defence. Focus started to grow in confidence with Ross, Brennen and David doing well in midfield, Aaron made some good tackles in defence coming on for James, Liam and Tyler changed places upfront. After soaking up some pressure Heybridge were on the attack again, Focus had to defend but left too many players forward and let in a scrappy goal, 4-0. Focus couldn't get hold of the ball as Heybridge were well on top and soon made it 6-0, Focus made more changes as the boys were working hard, Henry was making some great tackles in defence listening to the managers, Aaron too made some vital interceptions although the boys in midfield Brennen, Ross and David were struggling to turn with the ball and Heybridge soon overturned possession and Ronnie made a fantastic save. Then there was some confusion in the box and it was 7-0. Soon after it was 8-0 as the Referee had seen a push in the box and awarded a harsh penalty. Heybridge then added another in the closing minutes to make the final score 9-0.
Well done to all the boys in our first away match.
Man of the match decided by the parents was Aaron with Henry a close second. The score was 0-9.
