HAWKS PUT ON A SHOW FOR THE MUMS!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT NOTLEY STRIKERS 2
FOCUS FERRERS HAWKS 2
Charles (1)
David (1)
On a bright sunny but a bit blustery mothers day we headed off to Notley ,With a full squad to choose from we started off with Liam in goal a back line of Henry "Birthday boy" and Brandan ,With Sam ,Jack and David in the middle and Charles up front , Bren ,Ronnie and James made up the Hawks......
The Hawks got the game underway and were on top from the start, Some of the passing and movement is a pleasure to see and within the opening two minutes we had the first chance to take the lead, with Jack letting fly from outside the box just missing the target, more chances came and went then the breakthrough from a crcking corner , the smallest man on the pitch (Charles) has lept up and nodded a Rooney Header into the roof of the goal , What a header 1 0 Hawks .
The Boys were rearly determined to get a second goal , and were pushing forward all the time , Sam and David were making some great runs down the wings , Jack was bossing the middle and when Notley did break through Henry and Brandan were in great form, Ten minutes gone and the Hawks went two up From a Liam clearance who found Brandan who laid it through to David who in turn went round two defenders and smashed the ball home 2 0 Hawks, A few changes were then made to get some of the other boys on , this did not disrupt the flowing football and Bren was soon into the thick of it crossing in a great ball with Charles turning and shooting on a sixpence the Notley keeper pulled off a fine save. Notley near the end of the first half started to create some good chances of there own, and Liam was called upon twice to make smart saves keeping the Hawks lead in tack halftime.....
With Charles coming off at half time grinning like a cheshire cat , and informing us that it was his first headed goal (nice way to open your account) the boys were boyant and were just itching to get back out there , early in the second half the Hawks should have put the game to bed, from a number of great corners we just could not get on the end of them, Brandan went on a run and a neat pass found Sam who showed a clean set of heels to the Notley defenders, race on , With Sam bearing down on goal the defender has pulled of a great slidding tackle to deny sam, with more changes made to the team this seemed to disrupt the flow and Notley duly excepted the invite, When from a good corner floated in ,it has come off one of the Hawks Defenders "Bum" and squeezed between the post and Liam 2 1.
From being in such a great position the Hawks were now rocking, Keep it tight for the last 4 mins , With Henry making way for James the Hawks knew another couple of minutes and the points were in the bag, Notley were on a charge now and Liam had to make another fine save getting down low to a fierce shot, two minutes left then disaster and aimless ball down the wing from a Notley player was collected and nine times out of ten the Hawks would put the ball out , but instead we played it across the goal and with no one there apart from the notley striker who turned and slotted home 2 2 Noooooo!!
With only a minute left we have kicked off and a hopefull ball from Jack has found David , With rocket propelled boots he has burst into the area and just has he was about to let fly the ball took a bobble , causing David to miss the target , Fulltime............................
With back to back draws having not drawn in the league all season, the Hawks knew they had dropped four precious points, as this is there first competative season its a learning curve and in hind sight to many changes were made, A point not missed by the Notley manager who only having 7 boys to choose from said we let them off, Notley are a very good side and great sports WELL DONE BOYS..
As this was mothers day the Mums picked the man of the Match, Brandan, David and Charles were all in the frame But the "WASP" got the nod for his tireless running (were going to miss you next week but say hello to Mickey ) WELL DONE JACK The score was 2-2.
