BROOMFIELD YOUTH LIONS 7

With the weather finally letting up the wait was over for this second leg semi, after dominating the first leg the game should have been put to bed, will all those missed chances come back to haunt us !!!!!!!!!!!

Broomfield got the game underway on a very good elmwood pitch, the opening 5 mins saw both sides have great chances to take the lead , Broomfield were denied by a fine save from the inform Liam, whilst at the other end Charles and david both saw goal bound efforts go inches wide, both teams play lovelly football and is a pleasure to watch, Brandan and Jack were soon dominating the midfield and the Hawks chances were mounting , at the other end Henry had to be on red alert from there very quick number 9 , The Hawks were building up a head of steam and twice the ball was crossed in, only to see the ball go across the goal mouth ,with the Hawks just unable to get a foot on it, another great chance came from a Jack corner right across the goal with Charles making a leap to head it home, but the ball just brushed over his head (1 inch taller lol) with the Hawks faithfull thinking not again the breakthrough was made, when Brandan won the ball gave it to Jack, who passed it over to David , who ran down the wing cut in and riffled the ball home 1 0 Hawks...
The boys were now in front in the tie for the third time, and were pushing forward to get that two goal cusion, this was leaving a few gaps at the back and Liam again pulled off a smart save down to his right to keep the Hawks in front Halftime 1 0 Hawks

The Hawks were very positive and knew they had to keep it tight for the opening 10 mins of the second half, with only a minute of the second half gone, the hawks put probably the best move of the game together , With David passing into Brandan who turned layed the ball out for Jack who played it across to Sam , (all from the training ground) Sam has burst into the box crossed the ball over to Charles who has seen his goal bound effort come back off the post , David has got the rebound smashed it goal wards only for the keeper to make a fine save, Brandan also went close with his shot just going inches over the bar, with eight minutes played the Hawks were pressing and were caught by a very fast break seeing there number 9 run half the lenght of the pitch and smash an unstoppable shot past Liam, 1 1 ,

This rocked the Hawks and soon after all thier good play found themselfs 2 1 down, this time Liam has made a triple save only for the striker on the forth try to bang it home, Now for the first time we were behind in the tie , but still had 12 minutes to get back into it , the Hawks from the kick off kept pushing and nearly got back on level terms, when Jack has hit a rocket but it was defended well in the box , from the clearance a long ball over the top has found there striker who managed to just squeeze the ball past the oncoming Liam 3 1, The next four minutes saw a mini collapse from the Hawks when there heads just dropped after all there hard work , and conceded another 3 goals which was very harsh , with a couple of minutes left Bren has finished of a great move to pull one back , but it was Broomfield who had the final say by netting a late one to top off the win Fulltime........

The score line does not reflect the game, and 7 2 was in no way a reflection on this tie, The Broomfield manager was very kind to our boys, and knew his team had been very fortunate to go through, but as we know football is a cruell game at times and i am sure our Hawks will have another go next season, Shooting practice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The score was 2-7.
