HAWKS LOSE TO RUN AWAY LEAGUE LEADER'S .......
FOCUS FERRERS HAWKS 0
MEADOW YOUTH 5
With all the rain from the previous week the Elmwood ground staff had done a great job in getting the game on, With the league leaders paying us a visit having not been beaten all season, we knew this was going to be tough...............
Meadow kicked off and were straight on the front foot with the Hawks standing off them, their winger picked the ball up ran past a Hawks player, crossed it in" with the Hawks still in warm up mode " their striker reacted first to slot it home 1 0 Meadow. The Hawks kicked off and should of equalised straight away, with Brandon laying the ball through to Bren who whipped the ball across with David and Charlie running in , Charlie tried a first time shot which just bobbled, then David had a go which there keeper saved. With Liam making his first start for two months after his broken arm and Ronnie playing alongside, the Hawks defence was holding firm. The midfield three of Bren, David and Brandon were getting amongst it, with Captain for the day Charles playing up front was always a danger. Meadow were pressing and from there 3rd corner in a row they went two up with a lovely side foot bottom right, 2 0 Meadow.
The Hawks kept going and Liam made a great challenge with there number 5 and 9 , and came out with the ball, he laid it off to Brandon who again looked out wide and played a great pass to David who drove into the box but could not get the ball out from under his feet. Changes were made to the Hawks with Sam, Henry and Waspy coming on for Liam, Charlie and Bren. The Hawks were pressing forward and from a Hawks corner Meadow broke went up the other end and made it 3. The Hawks kept pressing but two mins before half time Meadow caught us again to make it 4 0 at half time........
Changes were made again, this time Henry had a go between the sticks to get Jimbo back out on the pitch for a run out. The boy's were itching to get back out there, which was credit to them and got the second half underway. Both teams were playing some lovely football and a sweeping move from Meadow saw their striker go through, with Henry aware he has come out and dived at the Meadow striker, great save popped out back to the striker and Henry this time saved with his head and gathered, "Great bravery Henry". He was soon called into action again with another 1 on 1 this time pulled off another fine save, the Hawks were creating some great chances of their own and had Meadow penned into their half for a while trying to get that elusive goal. Charles, Bren, Sam, David , Jack and Brandon all had chances but either just missed the goal or the ball got stuck in the dirt.
Meadow got there 5th from some great wing play again, with their winger striking the ball from just outside the box, past Henry and come off the shin of a Hawks player, 5 0. The Hawks kept going and from a corner a goal mouth scramble with bodies flying in everywhere we just could not poke the ball in, just one of those day's for the Hawks full time ...................
It just shows how far we have come the first time we played Meadow we were brushed aside ,today's score line does not do the Hawks justice, even Simon their manager said it was closer than the score line suggests which is credit to the boy's , Meadow are a friendly team and are the best team we have played to be fair WELL DONE BOTH TEAMS..........
Man of the Match went to Henry this week for some good defending in the first half, and some great goal keeping in the second WELL DONE HENRY............. The score was 1-5.
