BROOMFIELD YOUTH TIGER'S 3
After all the rain we had had over the last few day's, credit to the grounds man of elmwood arena who had done a great job with the pitch, We welcolmed a very good Broomfield side for the return match in the league.
With a full compliment of boy's and credit to them all they just love to play, Broomfield started the game , A good start from both teams who are very evenly matched, saw both side's have chances with Bren and Charlie going close for the Hawks and Broomfields number 9 and 8 having good shot's for them, Captain for the day Henry was marshalling the back line well, with Charlie, David, Waspy, Sam and Brandan playing well in midfield, with the outlet of Bren up front, The Hawks had a great chance to take the lead with Brandan taking control of the middle passing a great ball to Sam, who went passed the Broomfield defender, crossed the ball with Bren David and Brandan just missing the ball , the Hawks were pressing but were caught by some fine football by Broomfield, seeing a good through ball finding there forward, with Henry along side there striker just got his shot away past the oncoming Jimbo 1 0 Broomfield.
The Hawks kicked off and could of equlised straight from the restart, with another bustling run through the middle from Brandan feeding David who's shot was a whisker wide, Bren and Sam also saw shot's go wide and at the other end, a fine save from Jimbo Kept out the Broomfield striker Halftime ........
With the boy's unfortunate to be a goal down the haltime team talk was just keep playing your football and it will come, This Half started as the first ended with both teams playing some great football, with the Hawks pushing for the equaliser Broomfield were very dangerous on the break, and only a great defensive block from Henry kept the Broomfield strikers goal bound effort from going in.
With 8 mins gone the Hawks got there reward when Brandan was brought down in the box,"pen" with Brandan dusting himself down , he stepped up and smashed the ball past the Broomfield keeper 1 1 , Ronnie made a blinding tackle to prevent the Broomfield player sliding in his striker, the ball bobbled around a bit and David reacted first passing a crossed field ball to Waspy, who beat a player and unleashed an awsome shot passed the diving Broomfield keeper 2 1 Hawks,More was to follow and with 6 mins to go Broomfield equalised, when the ball was going out it stopped dead just before the line, Ronnie reacted quickly turned thumped the ball long but landed at the Broomfield winger who played it in passed across the Hawks goal,we just could not clear and landed plum on the feet of there striker who shot through the crowd and hit the back off the net 2 2, What happened next was very cruel for the Hawks, with Jimbo growing two feet (mud on the boot's) we took him off for the last few mins, with Henry having a go between the sticks, no sooner had we done this out the blue Broomfield striker has hit a cracking shot from outside the box, and with Henry at full stretch he made a valiant effort looked back to see the ball in the net ( it did not matter who was in goal you dont save those) 3 2 Broomfield , the returning Hawks keeper Liam had a little cameo roll at the end and was glad for the run out , Fulltime ............
This was a cracking match to watch and both teams at times today played some lovely passing football, keep it up boy's its a pleasure to watch, this game could of gone either way and has shown how far our boy's have come WELL DONE BOYS .........
Man of the Match today went to David who was awsome today tireless running and battling back for the team WELL DONE DAVID.............. The score was 2-3.
