GALLEYWOOD YOUTH 2
With winter finally making an appearance and the sunny's and cream firmly packed away the Hawks made a welcome return to Elmwood arena, with the wind and rain howling Galleywood kicked off..
With the boy's just settling into there position's, and the game a minute in, Galleywood struck first from a good piece of football which saw their winger cutting into the Hawks box and letting one fly through the wet hands of Jimbo, 1 0 Galleywood, The Hawks come to life straight from the kick off and with only 4 mins on the clock were back on level terms, David beating his man and crossing in for Bren to get us level, 1 1, The Hawks were playing some lovely football now but found the Galleywood goalkeeper a tough one to beat, Chaz had two great effort's saved in a minute, and Jack and Bran were bossing midfield, David was causing all sort's of problem's down the right and Bren on the left likewise, the Hawks increased their lead on 10 mins when from a goal kick David was first to react and with the keeper slipping slots it past to take the hawks in front 2 1 Hawks.
The Hawks made a change with Sam coming on for Chaz who had worked his socks off, and it was Sam who played the ball across to Jack who let fly, Keeper parries it away only for David to again react first slide the ball across goal for Bren to tap home, 3 1 Hawks, Galleywood were still causing a few problems and reduced the arrears from another good piece ending up with a vicious low shot past the diving Jimbo 3 2 Hawks, Galleywood had there tails up and prob their best spell of the game and the Hawks had Jimbo to thank when he came charging off his line to clear a one on one (great awareness Jimbo) the Hawks then restored their two goal lead, From another great run and cross from David ,which their defender tried to clear but was unlucky when the ball skimmed of his shin pad into the roof of their goal. 4 2 Hawks Half Time.......
The Hawks made a couple of changes for the second half giving Jimbo a run out on pitch and Henry having a go in goal, with Bran dropping into defence the Hawks kicked off, the changes unsettled the team a bit, but was not long before the boy's were back in their stride, Bren, David and Sam were crossing the ball in from all angle's and barring a bit of luck we should of got on the end of some, Chaz was pulling the defender all over the place, Waspy was everywhere and is the engine room of the team alongside Bran who is superb, Jimbo has done well in goal with Henry "Vermaelen" Allan at the back the Hawks are going from strength to strength, Bren got his Hatrick with David passing a pin point ball through to him, who then went one on one with their keeper, and cool as you like slotted it past just like "Torre's", 5 2 Hawks, Jimbo now on the pitch was doing what Jimbo does best no nonsense defending taking all, man, ball, Ref he don't care ! Jack was next to score with a cracking strike out side the box past the diving Galleywood keeper, 6 2 Hawks, It was left to David to complete the scoring when Bran burst through passed the ball to Chaz who played it to Sam who layed it off for the on running David to smash it home 7 2 Hawks, Full Time.....
The phrase there's no place like home comes to mind, Galleywood played their part and are a cracking bunch of lad's, their keeper deserves a mention who is superb, WELL DONE ..
The Hawks today are starting to put their training into games with crosses raining in from all corner's , and today they were awesome, hard to pick a man of the match but WASPY got the nod for the second week with his tireless running and skills.. WELL DONE ALL THE BOYS............ The score was 7-2.
