HAWKS GROW INTO THE TOURNAMENT...........

On a hot sunny sunday we headed for the Maldon Saint's Tournament .....................

First up was Colchester Villa....... the Hawks started ok but were soon undone by a good strike making colchester go into the break 1 0 up , Second half we had another two goals put pass us so lost 3 0..............

Next up was Dunmow Rhodes...... The Hawks had four good chances and were looking good, but right near halftime a high shot undone our good work, second half we held on a bit and came out losing 1 0 ........

Next up was Maldon saint's Lion's... The Hawks were soon a goal up with a nice passing move with Charles netting our first goal, the Hawks were in control then again let in a goal before the break 1 1 halftime, the goal on the stroke of halftime took the wind out of our sails a bit and in the second Maldon went on to put two more passed us to come out winning 3 1 ..............

Our last morning game was against Aztec....... Aztec were on the front foot from the off but were kept at bay from some fine goalkeeping from Liam, but with a minute to go to halftime Aztec finally got passed Liam to make it 1 0 at halftime, Aztec went on to put 2 more passed us in the second half meaning a 3 0 defeat again ...............

We knew the morning comp would be tough against teams in much higher leagues, and with this being an all day event we got put into another group in the afternoon..............

The first afternoon game was against Sporting 77 A..... With Bren now here we had a bit more balance and were off to a flyer with Charles putting us one up, Liam at the other end pulled off a superb save which" winded him" , halftime the Hawks went in 1 0 to the good , Second half Sporting came out strong and got the equliser a well worked goal 1 1 , Sporting nearly nicked it at the end with either Liam and then the post saving us . 1 1 draw

Next up Sporting 77 B ......The Hawks were straight out the blocks and missed two one on ones with the Sporting keeper pulling off two good saves, more chances came and went but we could not break through, second half we had a few more chances then from a corner the ball came dropping at a sporting player who has hit a cracking shot passed a diving Liam, Sporting held on for the win 1 0 Sporting.............

Next up was Maldon saint's tigers.... This was more like the Hawks and were soon a goal up with David netting a beauty 1 0 hawks, we were soon 2 up this time Charles scoring from a fine cross by Bren . second half Hawks nearly increased there lead but came out with there first win never the less 2 0 Hawks.............

The last game saw us against Colcheaster Villa B ... The start was end to end with no team giving an inch, the Hawks nearly took the lead but Charles shot just skimmed the post, at the other end one comedy moment had the crowd laughing, with Liam watching the match behind the ball was coming at him, and with all the parent's shouting for Laim to turn round he calmly turneed round and saw the ball just in time to pick it up PHEW, second half and David got us off to a flter with a well taken goal from some nice interchange football from the boy's 1 0 Hawks, like a bus David had his second goal of the game within a minute, when he picked the ball up on the halfway line ran past 3 player's and from the tightest of angles smacked in a stunning goal 2 0 Hawks, fulltime.............

The Hawks grew into this one and from a very tough group in the morning against some top sides held on to produce in places some fine football, in the afternoon the boy's played some lovely football and got some good result's which there play deserved WELL DONE ALL THE BOYS............ The score was None-None.
