Southminster st Leonards U8's 1
The hawks took on a team they had played in the crouch league earlier in the season having won both times, but now were put together in the osea division for the spring league, squad this week Liam Bull,Henry, Jimbo, Ronnie, Liam Barrett, Sam, Jack "waspy", Kian, Bren and Captain David.....
In the bright sunshine Southminster got the game underway, With both teams putting the tackles in the hawks went on the attack which saw an early sight at goal from Bren, early chances came and went for the hawks with the southminster goal keeper pulling off a couple of good saves, Liam in the hawks goal had to be alert from a pacy Southminster attack, which saw there striker hit one from just outside the box but Liam in the hawks goal gathered well, This seemed to wake the hawks up and from a good pass from Jack the hawks went 1 up with a pin point pass through to Sam who fired home a sweet shot to make it 1 0 Hawks, The hawks were now in the groove with David, Bren, Sam and Jack all having good chances either missing the target just or finding the southminster keeper in good form, It was from a Jack corner that the hawks got there second of the game when the ball floated across and a southminster defender picked it up by mistake penalty, Bren stepped up and riffled an unstoppable pen top left 2 0 Hawks, the hawks defence of Jimbo and Liam then Henry and Ronnie were being kept busy from some southminster attacks but were holding them off, the hawks were playing the ball around then from another great run from David who crossed the ball perfectly into the on coming Kian who in turn cool as you like slotted the ball past the southminster keeper 3 0 hawks, Southminster had a few chances near the end of the half but found Liam in goal on top form making two great saves the hawks go into the break 3 0 up......................
Halftime chat out the way the hawks started the second half, David was making some great runs from the outset and was unlucky not to increase the hawks lead with a good strike just missing the upright, then two minutes in Bren crossed a peach of a ball into the box and Kian with his usuall coolness slotted home his second of the match 4 0 hawks, from the kick off David got injured giving his usuall 100 % for the ball and was replaced by liam who had a run out on the right wing, with the Hawks pressing forward Liam nearly found himself on the score sheet but was unlucky with his goal bound shot hitting a southminster defender, Liam was called into action again with a great save point blank from there striker, Jack came off and Jimbo had another run out center mid "mr versitile", The hawks seemed to switch off a little and southminster pulled one back from a corner, coming out and the hawks not clearing there lines for the first time landing at the feet of the southminster player who shot into the back of the net 4 1 hawks, the hawks went back on the front foot and Jimbo nearly scored seeing his shot cannon of a defender and from the rebound Sam just missed, Kian then got his 3 rd hatrick of the season with another fine goal "he never panics" and just picks his spot 5 1 hawks, David and Jack coming back on with Kian and Jimbo making way, David straight back into the action crossed the ball and there defender picked it up again penalty, this time David smashed the spot kick in another great pen 6 1 hawks, Jack "Waspy" had a few goes from distant just missing but it was left to David to complete the scoring from a trademark run a strike what a finish 7 1 hawks, the hawks had a few more chances with Sam and Bren going close but could not add another fulltime ...........
This was a team performance with the hawks defence of Henry, Ronnie, Jimbo and Liam barrett working rearly well as a unit, with Liam between the sticks we are looking solid, going forward David, Bren,Kian, Sam and Jack have pace and link up rearly well together and are also working well together, it has to be said Southminster played there part and had a couple of good chances, and the team are a great bunch of lads WELL DONE BOYS....
Man of the match was hard with all the boys playing well but Jack "waspy" French got the nod for his sheer work rate and crunching tackles you da man Jack.. Jimbo got the second trophy and is the complete player never gives up and what ever position he gets asked to play he does it WELL DONE ALL THE BOYS......
