HAWKS DENIED BUT PUT ON A GREAT PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!!!!!

With back to back games for the hawks this weekend to experiment a few things, we traveled to coggershall for another friendly and decided to play 8 v 8 again (to give the boys more time on the pitch) starting line up Liam Bull in goal Ron (chopper) Sparks , Henry and Jimbo making up the back with Jack Kian and Tyler in midfield and David starting as striker with the hawks kicking up hill in the first half we got underway !!!!!!!!!!!

The early stages saw a scrappy start with neither team taking a strangle hold on the game, the hawks looked a bit jadded after yesterdays heroics and were dropping off and letting coggershall have the ball,the hawks were playing the ball round and good strikes from David and Jack both going just wide saw the hawks slowly getting on top but on ten minutes coggershall took the lead from some nice neat football in the middle putting the ball out wide and dragging the hawks defence out to the ball there winger managed to get the ball into there striker who controlled the ball and smashed it past Liam 1 0 coggershall,The change was then made with Bren coming on for tyler David going out wide and Bren moving to his forward position we kicked off again,This was more like the hawks and some great link up play between Bren David and Jack saw Bren have his first strike on goal, the hawks were pushing forward for the equaliser but had to be a bit cautious of the break from coggershall who after a run of some poor results looked very good on the break, that no more so when there striker was played through again one on one with Liam and struck a great shot but was denied by a trully great save from Liam,With the hawks pressing up the other end and a number of corners later we won our first ever penalty when Bren struck a goal bound effort only to see it saved by a coggershall defender on the line , Bren stepped up to take the pen and struck the ball with great power staight down the middle and a valiant attempt from the coggershall keeper saw him push the ball between the net and the crossbar (with the net being pushed up) and came down in front of the line 1 1 no was not given to the amazement of most of the spectators,with that being the last action of the half the hawks went in 1 0 down halftime!!!!!!!!!!!!

With the boys feeling a bit hard done by and a rousing team talk from barry they went out for the second half determind to get back in the game,halftime change saw Liam Barratt come on for Kian with liam slotting into the middle of the defence and Henry pushing up we gat the second half underway kicking downhill,within a minute of the restart the hawks were level with a great run from Bren down the right crossing for David who shot keeper spilled it and David through sheer determination put it in the back of the net 1 1 (yet again a great celebration with David running to the corner flag and doing a tim cahill celebration) the hawks were now coming forward in numbers and were playing some great football but as has been our downfall we just dont convert our chances into goals, coggershall kept battling and nearly took the lead again but from a free kick but went just wide, with the hawks knocking at the door for most of the second half the game ended 1 1 fulltime !!!!!!!!

The hawks rearly are a good team to watch and sooner or later are going to find there goal scoring feet (i keep saying it) hopefully in time for the spring league, coggershall also played there part and are a very friendly club thanks Jan and your Boys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The man of the match this week was a very hard choice with Ronnie playing and commanding the defence and Liam Bull who was alert through out (even with a side strain) but Jack got the nod with another great display and growing in confidence with every game Well Done Jack superb !!!!!!!!!!! The score was 1-1.
