With the eagles having a break last week due to Barnston Withdrawing , they welcomed a good Maldon Saints team to there new home of Saltcoats......
The Eagles got the game underway with some neat footwork from Harrison spreading the ball wide to Tom who found Kian and with his first touch he let fly seeing his shot just tickle the post, Maldon straight from the goal kick found there winger a lovely flick put there striker in who smashed the ball just wide, What a start end to end it was Kian who opened the scoring with a fine ball from micheal finding Kian in space, with the keeper to beat he smashed it passed him great goal 1 0 Eagles, Kian was now in full flow and had another two great efforts just missing, but it was Maldon who got level with a good finish 1 1, Both teams were having a right go but found both keepers in top form, Maldon were next to score from a good cross finding there forward who finished well 2 1 Maldon , The Eagles undetered went straight up the other end and got level within a few minutes another fine Kian finish 2 2, This was very entertaining and Maldon agian took the lead from a corner tapped home 3 2 Maldon, Again the Eagles found themselfs behind but bounced straight back, this time it was Harrison with a looping shot over the top of the Maldon Keeper great goal 3 3 , with more chances coming and going the halftime whistle blew 3 3 ................................
With the teamtalks done Maldon got the second half going, Tom, Harrison Micheal and Kian were awsome going forward and with Ross, Jake, James and between the sticks Aaron "Almunia" Smeed moping everthing up at the back the Eagles were playing as a team, Maldon struck again from a corner to edge in front another good finish 4 3, Kian straight from the kick off fed Tom who played it to H who fed Kian who greatfully put the Eagles level again 4 4. ( still 15 mins to go ) Kian was on a mission and from collecting the ball in his own half went the lenght of the pitch and hit a great shot only for the Maldon keeper to tip it round the post, Maldon went back down the other end and Aaron who was superb made 2 point blank saves from two maldon players to keep the scores level, Fantastic stuff Kian then got his forth from good defensive work from Ross and James got the ball to H who found Tom who struck it on goal but came off the defender for Kian to hit home 5 4 Eagles, Kian then made it 6 ( five for him) with another great goal 6 4 Eagles, Maldon still not done got one back to make it 6 5 Eagles, A frantic last few minutes saw the Eagles defence of Jake Ros and James along with Aaron pulling off two more cracking saves holding firm for there first victory WELL DONE EAGLES ....
With so many good performances it was tough picking the man of the match, but although the hole team played well KIan was different gear with his 5 goals and an outstanding display got the nod WELL DONE KIAN ......................... The score was 6-5.
