| 31 Jan 2010 | Great Notley Eagles | 2-4 | U10s Rangers | League |
This was the boy’s first competitive match on Astro turf and they were all very excited and noisy, apart from the managers who were apprehensive how the boys would handle the unusual bounce of the ball. The bounce had an effect within 1 minute of the kick off as the Rangers defence could not clear the ball and Notley scored to make it 1-0. A few minutes latter the Rangers were awarded a free kick 5 meters outside the edge of the box and Frazer Wraight curled the ball over the defensive wall and into the far bottom corner to make it 1-1. The next goal followed 3 minutes latter when a long goal kick from Nathan Putt allowed Jamie Buck to run onto the ball and slot the ball into the corner of the net to make it 2-1 to the Rangers at half time. After the break Great Notley kept on attacking the Rangers goal and made it 2-2 after another defensive error from the Rangers. The boys responded well and Nathan went on a run from midfield beating two defenders and smashing the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-2 and then in the last few minutes Jamie collected the ball in midfield and run into the box and side footed past the goal keeper to make the final score 4-2 to the Rangers. Well done boys for winning the game but we must close down quicker and concentrate when defending.
