Match report

Focus Ferrers Rangers 3 – 1 Silver End

It was another glorious sunny day at the Collingwood stadium of light, and the boys were eager to play some free flowing football on the very hard but fast surface. After an even 10 minutes Silver end took the lead and went 1 – 0 up with a good strike from inside the box. This spurned the boys on to go on the attack and Ben Allen was pulled down in the box for a penalty, Jamie “Sniffer” Buck lined the ball up and smashed it high in to the roof of the net to make the scores level at half time. After the break the rangers kept on going forward and then Owain “Forest” Gardiner burst through the defence and played the ball through for Fletcher “Julian” Hammond to side foot home from six yards to give the rangers a well deserved lead. Frazer “Gomez” Wraight had now moved from goalkeeper to midfielder and was making some terrific tackles around the edge of the box, one of these tackles allowed the ball to run free for Nathan “Corner king” Putt to smash home from the edge of the box to give the Rangers a final score of 3-1. A big thank you for Daniel Matthews who volunteered to go in goal during the second half and made some excellent saves. The man of the match went Frazer “Donkey Gomez” for some excellent first half saves and a strong midfield performance during the second half. Well done to all eleven boys for trying to play football in very hot conditions.

The score was 3-1.
