Match report

After a week’s break for the Easter holidays the boys were eager to get started and the game kicked off 5 minutes early with glorious sunshine over the hallowed turf of Collingwood School. Straight from the kick off the boys charged down every ball and forced Tiptree into some desperate defending which resulted in a few corners in a row but the ball would not go in due to some excellent goalkeeping from the Tiptree number 1. Eventually Josh “Rio” Colvill won a strong tackle and turned inside to play the ball to Fletcher Hammond who then passed two players and played in Nathan Putt who sent the goalkeeper the wrong way with a nicely placed shot into the corner of the goal. Josh then made a huge clearance from defence which bounced over the Tiptree defence for Jamie Buck to run onto and beat the keeper from 8 yards with another nicely placed shot into the corner. During the break the team had a reshuffle of players and positions but this did not effect the boys who came out again playing some excellent passing football which resulted in Ben Allen and Frazer Wraight linking up well together with Frazer playing in the final ball for Jamie to score his second and the rangers third of the match.

During the final few minutes Joseph Topping who kindly offered to go in goal in the second half made a great one handed save but shortly after Tiptree scored a consolation goal after the Rangers defence was caught out going to far up the pitch. Avery good performance from all 9 boys and especially man of the match Fletcher “Julian Dicks” Hammond who tackled well and got up and down the wing supporting the attackers and the defenders.

The score was 3-1.
