| 22 Feb 2009 | U9s Rangers | 5-0 | Heybridge Youth | League |
This was the first game in the new spring league albeit against familiar opposition in Heybridge youth, the boys got of to a strong start in terms of possession but could not find the net with several chances going wide from Jamie, Nathan and Josh. Eventually Nathan broke the deadlock after reacting the quickest to a goal kick and shooting from the edge of the box, this was then followed up from strike partner Jamie who found himself unmarked and side footed home to make it 2-0. Fletcher then made his way forward from left back and after a neat pass from Ben he was able to shoot hard and low into the far bottom corner. After the break Frazer came out from goal and started to make some driving runs into the box which resulted in several corners of which one of them Nathan curled the ball straight past the goal keeper to make it 4-0. After some more pressure the goal keeper kicked the ball out but only as far as Jamie who struck the ball over the keepers head and into the goal. The game finished 5-0 to the rangers but this was also down to some terrific defending from man of the match Ben Allen.
Special thanks must go to the standby Referee Simon who is available for quite a few Saturday afternoons if required!
