15 Feb 2009 U10s Rangers 7-1 Heybridge Youth League

Match report

The game was switched from the home ground to Heybridge to make sure the last winter league fixture was finally played. The boys got off to a good start but could not find the back of the net despite several chances. Eventually Nathan Putt broke the deadlock with a low hard drive into the corner, after a few more minutes of pressure strike partner Jamie Buck turned and shot low into the back of the net for a 2-0 half time lead.

After the break the boys started to play some very good football which undone the opposition with Frazer Wraight making some driving runs into the box which eventually resulted in him scoring a goal from the edge of the box, after another run Fletcher Hammond was waiting to pounce and strike home for 4-0. A very good short corner between Nathan and Frazer saw Daniel Matthews strike home a peach of a volley when the ball came into the box. Owain Gardiner then got forward from defence and slotted home to make it 6-0 and in the last few minutes Josh Colvill went forward from midfield and after the goal keeper dropped the ball he was ready to pounce and make it 7-0. Credit to Heybridge who then went down the other end and score a good goal to make the final score 7-1. The Man of the Match award went to William Rean who tackled strongly throughout the game in defence. Well done to all 11 boys.

The score was 7-1.
