Focus Ferrers Rangers 8 – 0 Heybridge Youth
Mud glorious mud was the theme for this local encounter, after a brief 10 minute warm up the boys were ready to go and make it seven undefeated games in a row.
It took a good 8 minutes for Rangers to start playing football and when they did Jamie Buck played in Joseph Topping to score his first goal for the club with a well timed shot into the bottom corner. Joseph then took a long throw in for Nathan Putt to run onto and side foot past the goal keeper. Nathan then blasted home his second of the match after great wing play from Fletcher Hammond who skipped past two and placed a perfect cross for Nathan. Nathan then became goal setter for the next three, first he played in Fletcher who was then able to skip past 2 defenders and blast into the roof of the net, then Nathan played in his strike partner Jamie who side stepped the goal keeper and placed neatly in the bottom corner of the goal. Heybridge then had two good attacks in a row which was dealt with by the defence of Josh Colvill and his goal keeper Frazer Wraight.
From a long pass out of defence Nathan picked up the ball and ran down the wing and then passed to Jamie who turned inside the box and shot into the back of the net for a half time score of 6-0.
With the score line comfortable Rangers made some alterations to the team and put goal keeper Frazer and centre back Josh up front with Jamie going in goal. The second half was a lot tougher as all the boys were now weighing an extra 5lb due to the excessive mud on their little football boots but eventually the ball was played through to Josh who beat 2 defenders to shoot low and hard into the goal. The final goal was an own goal but came from 3 successive good corners from Frazer.
The man of the match went to Fletcher who supported the forwards well with driving runs from left back.
Well done to all 10 boys and have a great half term holiday. Simon & Steve
The score was 8-0.
