Match report

The wait was finally over for Focus Ferrers newest crop of young footballers and after 18 months of training and hard work they delivered a performance that they will remember for ever in their football lives. The boys all looked very smart in their new football kit and eagerly waited for the team selection and who was going to be captain of the day. Ben Allen was the chosen captain and he stood very proud in the centre circle with the referee and then that was it the game was on.

Focus Ferrers controlled most of the opening 10 minutes but could not convert pressure into goals and occasionally when the defence was under attack Frazer Wraight left his goal line and cleared the ball from the edge of his box with some great kicking.

Finally after a bizarre goal line scramble, Captain Ben poked home the decisive opening goal. This was then followed by a driving run from centre back Josh Colvill.

After the break substitute Jamie Buck finished neatly inside the box to make it 3-0. Frazer who had been in goal in the first half was now making runs into the box and scored to make it 4-0. Jamie Buck then went past 2 players on the wing before driving a low hard cross into the box for Daniel Matthews to turn and shoot into the goal. Tiptree then pulled back a goal to make it 5-1 with a superb 15 yard free kick, but soon after Nathan Putt struck a wonder goal from 20 yards to make it 6-1. The referee soon blew for the full time whistle and there were smiles all around especially from Steve and Simon their coaches.

Well done to all 11 boys, we are very proud of you.

Steve & Simon.
