JUST ONE OF THOSE GAMES...
Hatfield Peverel 2 - 1 Focus Ferrers Rangers
Haydn Davies (25)
Indeed it was just one of those games. One of those games during which you enjoy all of the ‎possession, exert all of the pressure, are rewarded with so many chances you lose count, and yet still ‎come away the losing side.‎
This U7's Rangers side were asked to bounce back from their first ever league defeat last week and to ‎put in a performance to do themselves justice; and they duly delivered. All that was missing were goals, ‎as chance after chance went begging, and the woodwork was hit so often it must have been the ‎opposition goal keeper's birthday.‎
Despite being 2-0 down at half time following two goals against the run of play, no one could ‎fault the effort the Focus boys had put into a frustrating 20 minutes.
‎ ‎
The crowd were treated to more of the same heart stopping action in the second half, having watched ‎Haydn Davies pull a goal back from the penalty spot - and what a penalty it was. The ball felt the full ‎force of Haydn's right boot as it was sent screaming into the roof of the net (had the keeper got in the ‎way of the ball he would most certainly have joined it there).‎
The rest of the game was played out with wave after wave of Focus Ferrers attacks, but the equaliser just ‎would not come. It transpires that Sunday really was the Hatfield Peverel goal keepers birthday - had it ‎been his 16th we would have asked him to buy us next weeks lottery ticket that same day. ‎
Man of the Match: Tom Dumas - tireless work in midfield, his best game of the season so far.‎
