Match report

FOCUS FERRERS LIONS U 7   2  -  3  MALDON SAINTS U 7

This was going to be a very tough test for the boys. The match kicked off with the rain pouring down. The lions got going straight from the start, Teddy and Callum were making some great tackles at the back. The mid field of Kai, Aaron, Michael and Jack up front were relentless but Lions just could not make the break that they deserved. On 9 minutes the very hard working Saints hit us on the break opening the scoring to 1 - 0 Saints. This didn’t dampen the boys’ spirits as they carried on being the best side, but on 19 minutes Saints took a great corner that wrong- footed Tommy in goal and it bounced off his leg for an own goal.  2 - 0 Saints. This is the way it was to stay at half time.

The Lions yet again came out fighting with wave after wave of great attacking football, and on 29 minutes Alfie broke free one on one with the keeper. He then cheekily chipped him to put the lions back in it 2 - 1 Saints. The weather was now starting to get to the boys but they still kept working hard with attack after attack but they just could not break down Saints as a lot of chances were missed. Joseph, Teddy and Jack were doing superb work picking out some great passes, and on 37 Minutes Daniel put the boys right back in it 2 - 2. Tommy was called in to action and made some great saves. It looked like it was going to be a draw but Saints broke away on 39 minutes and struck a great shot that sneaked in off the post, 3 - 2 Saints. I would have liked to say the best team won, but Lions were the better side overall - well done boys some great football played today. Unlucky.
