Focus Ferrers U7 Lions 5 - Heybridge Youth U7 3

 

After a long break Lions came up against a much improved Heybridge team and were instantly under pressure. Some solid defending by Michael and Kai as well as some telling saves by Tommy kept the scores level despite some almost constant attacking play by Heybridge. Alfie came on for Aaron and made some good runs but finally the Heybridge pressure told and they took a well deserved lead despite a great effort by Tommy. Callum came on for Kai and continued the good work in defence making some telling tackles and Teddy was working hard in midfield. Jack won the ball in midfield and played in Alfie who made a lovely pass through to Daniel who put the ball past the keeper just before half time to level the score.

 

The beginning of the second half saw Joseph come on for Jack and Aaron for Teddy. Almost straight away good work by Aaron and Daniel led to a goal for Aaron to make it 2-1. Excellent work in defence by Michael and a great run by Aaron was rewarded with a great finish by Alfie - 3-1. Joseph was working hard to minimise any Heybridge attacks, tracking back and mopping up when needed. Kai came on up front for Daniel and combined well with Aaron before composing himself and placing his shot past keeper in off the post - 4-1. Jack came on for Aaron and continued his good work from the first half, putting Alfie through who hit a fierce shot that was handled in the area. Aaron stepped forward confidently and smashed the resulting penalty into the roof of the net to make it 5-1. Heybridge then scored straight from the kick off and came on strong in the last minutes scoring once more before the final whistle. Final score 5-3.

 

Man of the match was Alfie for showing hard work, commitment and perseverance in a tough match.
