FOCUS FERRERS LIONS U7 4 - 1 VALLEY GREEN HAWKS U7
Lions had a full squad to pick from today and got off to a flying start when the Valley Green keeper kicked the ball straight to Alfie who opened the score on 1 minute with a well taken goal. The boys were all working well when Alfie broke free again and hit a great shot that was destined for the top corner when one of the Valley’s defenders stuck a hand out to save it. Lions were awarded a penalty, but Joseph who normally doesn’t miss struck the ball wide. It was a very open game and Callum in defence made some great tackles and Tommy in goal was saving and kicking the ball very well today. It was a very even match but nearing the end of the first half Jack picked the ball up and made a great run turning his defender. He passed the ball to Aaron who smashed the ball in the back of the net to ease the pressure. That was how it would stay at half time 2 0 to the Lions.
Lots of changes were made at half time. Teddy was making some great runs and working very hard. On 28 minutes the very assured Alfie struck another great shot to put the lions 3 - 0 up. Daniel was holding his position well up front but the boys just couldn’t get the ball to him. Tommy who had a great game today was substituted and Joseph went in to goal. The second half had a lot of stops and starts. Kai did a great pass to Daniel who slotted it to Michael who struck a very well taken shot to put the boys into a well deserved 4 – 0 lead. As time was nearing the end Valley got their reward for being a very tough team and scored on the final whistle to make it Lions 4 Valley Green 1.
The well deserved man of the match was Tommy who did some great handling and assured kicking (think the coaching is already paying off - thank you to Antony!)
The team today was Tommy, Callum, Kai, Daniel, Joseph, Jack, Alfie, Aaron, Teddy and Michael.
