Match report

Galleywood Yth U7 2  Focus Ferrers Lions U7 6

Lions were missing two players so the remaining boys had to work even harder this week. The first half started well for the Lions and after some good work by Daniel and Kai, Aaron put the ball past the keeper for the first goal. With the wind and slope in their favour, the Lions continued to put pressure on the Galleywood defence which resulted in goal number two for Aaron who was then unlucky not to score again after a lovely solo effort was well saved by the Galleywood keeper. The defence of Teddy, Callum and Joseph were working hard to minimse any Galleywood attacks and Tommy saved well after a good attacking move. Aaron scored his well deserved hat trick with another well taken goal before Joseph almost scored the goal of the season from near his own half with the keeper out of his area - great vision and skill. Teddy was replaced by Michael who slotted into defence and played a lovely ball through to Daniel who scored a fantastic goal to make it 4-0. There was just enough time in the first half for another wonderful move which ended with a great shot into the top corner by Daniel.

In the second half the Lions were up against a strong wind and the slope and instantly found themselves under pressure.Teddy came on for hat trick hero Aaron and the defence worked hard to keep out any Galleywood attacks. Tommy made some important saves but was unable to do anything about 2 fine Galleywood goals. The score was 5-2 but the boys were still working so hard with Joseph, Callum and Michael putting in some telling tackles in defence, some lovely passing by Daniel and good chasing down by Teddy and Kai. Finally, with a minute to go, Daniel played an inch perfect pass through to Kai who slotted the ball home for his first goal of the season. Man of match was Daniel for 2 great goals, tackling back, some unselfish passing when he could have gone for his own hat trick and taking into the game what he had practised in training.

The score was 6-2.
