Focus Ferrers Lions U7 1 - Valley Green U7  1

 

The boys met a very tough team but coped well on a hot sunny afternoon. Goalie Tommy made a fine save inside 3 minutes and the defence of Joseph, Kai and Callum coped well with 2 Valley Green corners. Lions were then very unlucky to concede a goal in the 8th minute after a goalmouth scramble despite Tommy's best efforts. Joseph seemed to be everywhere, making important challenges and supporting the strikers. A fine passing move between Jack, Alfie, Teddy and Joseph resulted in a goal by Alfie to level the score. Some more great defensive play by Michael and Joseph kept the scores level at half time.

 

At the start of the second half some good defending and a save by Tommy prevented Valley Green from taking the lead. Lions then mounted some sustained pressure on the Valley Green goal. An excellent kick from Tommy and run by Daniel nearly led to a goal for Aaron. Jack then played a lovely pass through for Daniel who was unlucky not to score. Defensively the Lions kept their shape and ensured Valley Green attacks were kept to a minimum including some great tracking back by Teddy, Michael and Kai and some solid clearances by Callum whilst the strikers were doing everything but score at the other end. A couple of great free kicks by Alfie and some fine forward play by Aaron and Daniel deserved at least one goal but their goalie was on fine form to keep the Lions out.

 

Unlucky boys but a fantastic effort by the whole team. Man of the match deservedly went to Joseph for an excellent all round display.
