Match report
The Swifts arrived at Hedingham after an overnight flight from Southend airport such was the distance on a damp Sunday morning! Spirits were high though following the previous week's 8-1 victory and a solid training session mid week.
Hedingham were slightly depleated in numbers and it didn't take long for the Swifts to open the scoring. Good work by Thomas up front led to Jason scoring the opening goal. Shortly afterwards came the reward for a hard working defender come centre forward. Strong work down the left led to the ball being played across the box and from nowhere sprinted Joe B who joyfully hammered the ball into the corner of the net and set off ecstatic father&son goal celebrations!!
By this time Jason & Tony were beginning to relax and starting to enjoy the comfort of the away team dug out - complete with bench! Ben & Jovette also seemed to enjoy the comfort of a sit down as they awaited their second half appearances. The Swifts were dominating the game and it wasn't long before a third goal arrived - this time a great solo effort by Jason. Many more chances followed as the defence of Josh, Aaron, George & Thomason played the ball around effortlessly. The midfield were in total control with Jack sprinting down the right and Jolan likewise down the left. Nothing was getting passed Luke as he played the holding role allowing Jason the freedom to attack just like everyone's idol - Steven Gerrard!
Up front Thomas was playing some great team football, setting up chance after chance for his team mates. Our new super striker Joe was clearly enjoying his spell up front even glancing up occasionally to check the offside. Before long Master Rucker was at it again - bang 4.0 and a great hatrick in the first half for Jason.
More of the same was the half time message although that may have been the coffee order as well.
The boys, just like the coffee, didn't disappoint and they were soon scoring again. Tom deserved to get on the scoreline and he duly did - 5.0. Jason just could not stop scoring and soon he made it 6.0. Aaron was keen to show off his baby rocking goal celebration and was pushing more and more forward. His chance soon came with a another bundle in the penalty area - the ball broke to Aaron and he burried his chance with purpose 7.0.
Ben was on now for Owen in goal and it was debatable who came off with the cleanist kit. The goalies were assured, confident and not really needed as the Swifts continued to dominate against a now tiring Hedingham.
Jovette was on for Jack and running the Hedingham defence in rings. There was still time for more goals and now is was time for provider to become scorer. Two quick goals from Thomas came in the final few minutes and were well deserved as he completed his second half hatrick.
The final score was 9.0 to the mighty Swifts and a great start to their Cup campaign.
The Man of the Match was between our two high scoring players. Geoff had the honour this week and went for Thomas who just knicked it due to his all round play - well done Thomas!
So far 17 league & cup goals in 2 matches - let's keep it going boys!
