On a wet and windy opening day of the league campaign Focus took on last seasons runner’s up from division 2, Playing against the wind and the rain Focus found it very difficult to get the ball down and play the attractive football which impressed in pre-season. Only hard work and determination kept the scores level at half time, it just was not happening out there miss placed passes, lack of control and players nerves got the better of the players.
During the half time discussions we spoke about stepping our play up another level and get the players to play the one touch passing game to get some confidence going, we huffed and puffed but it was just going to be one of those games! Nothing was going right but to the players credit they never gave in and battled all the way. Midway through the second half Focus took the lead through Pugh with a fine run and shot that floated over the keepers head to make it 1-0. Was this going to spark us into action? No it did not, we still found it tough going and found ourselves on the back foot being pounded by corner after corner and
To be honest I would have been happy to take the point and finish the game there and then but credit to the lads they stuck in there and right on the final whistle Radley stole the points with a death touched that looped over the keeper to finish of one of the best moves of the game! 2-1 a great way to start the season….
