1 Feb 2009 U15s Girls 1-8 Hawkwell Athletic League

Match report

Despite the appaling weather conditions the girls were pleased to be playing but soon found themselves up against some strong opposition. With the wind in their faces the girls battled hard to keep the goals out. Once again Nicky made some great saves in goal and Sophie P, Eleanor and Corinna were kept busy at the back. Alisha made her presence known in midfield showing great strength and determination in her efforts to win the ball. Katie S. as usual worked tirelessly in midfield, made some great breaks and looked dangerous in attack. However Hawkwell scored early in the game and went on to put four more goals past us to make the score 5 - 0 at half time.
The second half saw the wind in our favour. Katie H. made some promising attacks up front and Sophie H.(capt.) fought hard to win the ball. Jenny held her position well on the right and made some great passes in field. Katie S. having beaten several players was unlucky not to score when her excellent strike hit the post. Finally the girls got the goal they deserved when Alisha went through several players using her strength to put the ball in the back of the net.
Some very noteable performances today from Eleanor who was very strong in defence, Sophie P. who as ever battled away fearlessly, tackling repeatedly,Katie S. who covered the pitch from end to end and Alisha who has found her niche in mid-field.
Player of the match went to Alisha - Well done. The score was 1-8.
