After a long lay off the girls headed for an end of season tournament to canvey island, Focus Girls today had a squad of six with Rebbeca Bowers, Amy gates, Nicola Hatfield, Alisha Bull , Ashley Game and Captain Katy Howard for this 6 a side Tournament .............

This was a good opener between two teams that know each other well, Focus were quick out the blocks and were laying siege to the Burnham goal with the burnham keeper (Jade) making some great saves, Beccs in the Focus goal had to be alert from a good early strike gathering well, Alisha and Amy were outstanding at the back and from an Alisha tackle the ball found Nicky who passed a pin point pass to Ashley who smashed it home, Katy , Nicky and Ashley created chance after chance but the ball just would not go in , then with 2 mins left the burnham girl has hit a shot from far out and it has sneaked in over the oustretched beccs , so a draw to start harsh on the girls but a point......

The Girls played some great football in this match and Focus dominated from start to finish , with Alisha and Amy again proving to be to strong for the island girls attack, Nicky taking the gloves for this one giving Beccs a run out , Beccs , Katy and Ashley linked up well and should of took an early lead but a Katy thunderbolt just missed the upright , Amy's throws were causing all sorts of problems for the Island girls defence Katy and ashley again went close , Then with Beccs winning the ball she crossed it to ashley who took one touch spun the defender and smashed it home 1 0, Alisha was everywere getting in the tackles, Nicky then had to come to a cross and palm the ball out (great stuff) to Katy who went on a run beating two crossing to ashley who hit a goal bound shot with the keeper saving , Focus win 1 0

Redbridge Girls 1
This was against a strong redbridge side who were from a higher league, Focus girls created some great chances with two goal mouth scrambles in the redbridge box , with Katy , ashley and Nicky all so unlucky not to get the vital touch , at the other end Beccs has made an oustanding save getting down low to a great strike, Amy and Alisha again were oustanding at the back but with a minute to go Redbridge got the goal to win the game which was very harsh on the Focus Girls , We still nearly snatched a point with Nicky whipping in a cross and Katy firing just wide ................

This was a must win game for Focus and how they responded , From the off the girls went for it and Ashley (goal machine) soon put Focus in the lead with Alisha winning the ball (not for the first time today) she played it to Katy who found Nicky who passed it through to ashley to burst the net 1 0, LTD were soon level with a good ball through with there striker slotting home , From then on Focus were awsome and from an Amy, throw the balls found Nicky who went passed her marker and hit a superb shot into the roof of the net 2 1 , Katy was causing havoc on the right and was putting some great crosses in, and from a cross Ashley again has turned on a sixpence and got her second of the game 3 1 Focus, The girls were in the final .................................

What a final this turned out to be with it has to be fair between the two best teams on the day here, the game was played in great spirit with both teams having chances , Again going forward the combination of Katy , Ashley and Nicky were a constant thorn in the Redbridge side , and Amy and Alisha wereso determined today against some big girls to keep them out with Beccs making one great save near the end we went into Extra time, in extra time all the girls gave it there all with Ashley , Katy and Nicky getting back to help alisha and amy keep out any thing Redbridge had to throw at them , in a very even final we went to pens , in a nail bitting shootout Redbridge edge us out 5 3 so runners up this year .....
What a team performance from the Focus Girls who today with just 6 girls in the heat showed how far they have come, from Beccs in goal who made some outstanding saves, to Alisha who did not miss a challenge alongside Amy up to the flying Katy and Nicky who caused havoc on the wings with Ashley banging in the goals Awsome Girls WELL DONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!11
